Restore Rust Remover 250ml - Trade strength, conservation quality

SKU: STN-RRR250

Restore Rust Remover is a water-based, non-acidic, non-toxic, biodegradable derusting concentrate.  The contents of the  250ml bottle, when mixed with plain tap water makes 5 litres of reuseable fluid (approx 1 gallons). Because it does not contain any acids, only the rust is removed, leaving good metal undamaged.  Once the rust has been removed the chemical reaction stops. (Products containing phosphoric acid will remove both the rust and a certain amount of good metal which may not be desirable).  Because of the absence of acids, there is no danger of flash rusting occurring when parts are removed from the bath.  In fact, parts will remain rust free without further protection for a considerable period, allowing plenty of time for painting, chemically blackening, or plating parts or tools.    Alternatively, to give longer protection in the ‘bare’, cleaned state, they may be protected with MetalGuard Ultra, GreaseXtra or ToolGuard VCI.  The derusting solution may be used over and over again until the solution becomes blackened and the reaction time becomes excessively slow.   Because the residue is completely biodegradable the spent solution may be flushed down the drain without harm to the environment.  Litre for litre, Restore Rust Remover is the most economical product of its kind currently available.  Restore Rust Remover is supplied in a 250ml  plastic bottle.  To get the best performance from Restore Rust Remover please read the Hints & Tips

Testimonials:-

Once I saw the size of the bottle and read the instructions I couldn't help thinking that this new organic rust remover wouldn't be successful... mixing the Restore with the water, I placed a few items in the bucket to soak and waited.  After 1 1/2 hours I took a peak and couldn't believe my eyes, the rust had 98% gone from the tools so I gave them a good brushing with an old tooth brush and that took the rest off!   If I had used an acid based rust remover, some of the metal would have been eaten away too.  This formula only takes the rust away – the name Restore is certainly true to the word.  To say that I'm impressed is an understatement. ‘Sparky’ – Get Woodworking.Com ... web forum”

I use the diluted RESTORE in an ultrasonic bath and leave it for a few days before stiff brushing under running water. That's freed up items that were rusted solid. I was very impressed. My experience with Restore is that it's good value for money and the firm that make it has very helpful courteous people who respond quickly to After sales queries.

Does what it says on the tin!  Great substance it does work despite its mild mannered appearance. Used it to clean up an old -plane bought at auction and what a job it made.  (28/01/2015) Graham - Glasgow

A good product would use again.  I don't often use rust removing products but i had a few old hand planes that were in desperate need of some TLC.The rust remover worked great on nuts and bolts and got into all the inaccessible places round the leaver cap/frog although seamed to struggle on areas where the japanning had flaked off   (27/01/2014) Darren Roberts – London

I applied a small drop of neat fluid, off the tip of a cocktail stick - just a 3mm diameter bead onto one of the rustier saws yesterday evening and saw the bubble blacken up within 10 seconds - immediately washed it off and was astonished at the matt grey clean perfect 3mm circle I was left with. Holding it up to the sunlight it literally sparkled......... I know it needs to be diluted, was just curious. The saw restoration was a complete successes - Restore Rust Remover really cleaned up the plate and restored the original "silvered" finish in the non-rusty areas - gives a very good impression of exactly what this saw looked like when new. Just like to say that, initially sceptical, I am now very impressed with the results and have another 6 saws that will be receiving the same treatment !
